Pregnancy can make it harder to fight off some infections. Vaccines help your body build protective antibodies, which can pass through the placenta to help protect your baby too.
This protection is important because babies do not receive their first routine vaccinations until they are 8 weeks old. Vaccination during pregnancy helps protect them during their first few weeks of life, before their own vaccines can start building protection.
