About

Warrington Educational Psychology Service – Supporting Children and Young People

We are part of Warrington’s Education and Inclusion services, and our role is to use psychology to improve the learning, development, and emotional well-being of children and young people, especially those with special educational needs (SEN).

We work most closely with parents and schools, and we also work with other teams in Children’s Services, health professionals and community organisations.

Our team includes:

Fully qualified Educational Psychologists registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Trainee Educational Psychologists
Two friendly and helpful administrative assistants
We also have several HCPC registered Educational Psychologists in an associate capacity

The Educational Psychology Service in Warrington holds a set of hopes for the CYP in the town. This will guide our work and decision making when planning and prioritising our work.

We currently offer a range of services, including:

✳️ Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments

We provide psychological advice as part of the statutory Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment process, helping to identify a child’s strengths and areas of need, and the support they need to help them be successful in education.

✳️ Group and Individual Consultations

We work together with teachers, families, groups of school staff and other professionals, to find solutions together in consultation meetings led by the educational psychologist.

✳️ Preventative Work and Training

We help schools and other organisations to build capacity to support learning and emotional wellbeing through training and supervision

These services are currently accessed through schools as part of the Graduated Response to supporting children’s Special Educational Needs. If you would like your school to seek educational psychology involvement for your child, please speak to the school SENCO.
