Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. Our Helpline and expert advisors offer free, practical support to older people struggling with their finances. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working directly with older people across the UK. We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people facing financial hardship and campaign for change.
We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life.
Our free services include:
- Information and advice – we provide confidential, free and impartial advice and information over the telephone for older people and their families, carers and friends on issues such as money and benefits, housing, care and support, and more.
- For people whose English is not their preferred language, we can offer information and support using a translation service.
- We also provide free guides and factsheets which are full of information to help older people boost their income, find the care they need, remain independent, choose the right place to live, stay connected with others and more.
- Telephone groups – our Good to Know Groups are free national telephone information groups for people aged 65+, offering social and learning opportunities. The groups connect people aged 65+ with their peers and useful organisations, to hear and talk about issues that matter to them.
- Alongside our telephone groups, we also run webinar sessions. The webinars are suitable for those over 65, family, carers, friends or anyone supporting an older person.
