FREE SHORT COURSE
This is a free 4-week course that is open to local residents aged 19 and over, living within a Warrington non-devolved postcode area*. It offers an introduction to the principles of British Sign Language (BSL), helping you take the first steps towards learning to communicate using BSL.
You will learn about the importance of hand shapes and facial expressions, as well as methods used to communicate with deaf individuals or those who use sign language.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Fingerspell your own name
- Sign and respond to a range of greetings
- Recognise and sign at least three family-related signs
- Recognise and sign at least three colours
- Identify different types of weather and respond appropriately to related questions
- Recognise and respond to simple expressions of feelings.
Enrolment with the college is essential prior to the course starting.
